"Temple" is an unreleased song by Lady Gaga for ARTPOP. For undisclosed reasons, the song did not make the album. The song was inspired by Taylor Kinney and was written in 2012. It was registered onto her BMI on the 28th July 2014.
Background and inspiration
The song was first referenced to by Zedd through his Twitter on August 20, 2012.
- "@ladygaga YESSS!!!! BACON!!!!!!! I need a #Temple of bacon!!!!"
Gaga announced the title on September 20, 2013. After the announcement, a fan asked her if "Temple" had religious connotations, in which she answered:
- "No, but it's about feeling safe with someone so beautiful on the inside and out."
- "The song is about him being able to love somebody who has a fast pace life, and is always on the road."
Zedd talked about this track and "Onion Girl", and said that the track was never finished.
