After graduating in dyeing and weaving design from the Tokyo University of Arts in 2010, Tatehana sent an email to Nicola Formichetti to show him his graduation project “Heel-less Shoes”. Nicola asked for shoes as Gaga was set to visit Japan shortly after in April of 2010. Gaga than helped the notoriety of Tatehana by wearing his shoes at multiple events across the world in 2010 and 2011.
