Background
Lady Gaga performed a small teaser of the song October 4, 2016 during her interview with On the Air with Ryan Seacrest. The hashtag #JustAnotherDay trended on Twitter the same day, with Gaga tweeting her thanks saying "Thank you SO MUCH for trending #JustAnotherDay From my new album. I LOVE YOU GUYS CAN'T WAIT TILL OCT. 21 to drop #JOANNE #music".
“Just Another Day” is the only song on Joanne that Lady Gaga wrote by herself. Also Lady Gaga teased some info about the song. She explained to Ryan Seacrest: "[“Just Another Day” is] probably the most New York-glam-pop song on the album. It's the one that heirs from [David] Bowie and Marc Bolan [of T Rex] and then maybe from some obscure London metal stuff, the Beatles. It also kind of airs from the electroclash movement from New York and that's kind of when I started coming up, was right after that."
Before performing "Just Another Day" at Dive Bar Tour in New York City on October 20, 2016 Lady Gaga talked about this song and about Mark Ronson, and she shared her memories from her childhood.
“ | I think this is a real special tune. I love this song so much. I wrote this song looking out over Central Park and from my apartment now, I can see my old house where I grew up with my family. And it just so happens that Mark [Ronson] and I went to the same school at one point. He did go to a boy’s school and I went to a girl’s school, but the pre-school was co-ed. So I went to pre-school at Mark’s school and we’re really neighbors. Because also, I lived two blocks away from one of his best friends, Sean Lennon, and I used to walk by the Imagine Memorial probably three times a week and just sit there and look at the memorial, and I would catch Yoko sometimes with really wide brimmed hat on, walking in Central Park, and she would bring flowers, I think every day. And there was this homeless guy, I think he’s still there, he would decorate the memorial every day with the flowers that she brought, so beautiful. And I don’t know why, but even though Mark and I didn’t know each other then, I used to kind of, when we were writing this record [album "Joanne"] , I would imagine us as kids, kickin’ it around in the city. | ” |

Lyrics
"Yeah man, play that New York drum, Homer
Show 'em how we do it! Downtown"
Just another way to prove I love you
And it's hard today
I'll lay back in my chair and find a way
And when you say that thing that you say
That makes me mad
I'll turn away, I'll turn away, I'll turn away
And think of different ways to keep my spirits up
And choreograph hours with playful, joyous thoughts
We both know I could learn a thing or two
About relaxing, hey, I love you
And after all, it's just another day
Oh, I could use some two or three
Or other kind of ways to be
But today I won't be so hard on me
I'll walk alone down a different street
And smile at all the new strange I meet
And pick up unique style, I'll kick around today
And create simple thoughts, I'll laugh in humble ways
We both know I could learn a thing or two
About behaving, but I love you
And after all, it's just another day
Come on, Mark
Ladies and gentlemen, Brian Newman
We both know I could learn a thing or two
About behaving, but I love you
And after all, it's just another day
And after all
It's just another day
