The Haus of Gaga is Lady Gaga's creative team that was established in 2008. This page lists all the creations or modifications attributed to the Haus of Gaga. Gaga's DIY (Do It Yourself) earlier creations such a the Disco Bra, although created before the Haus are listed on this page. Since many creations were created in collaboration with the Haus over the years, only outfits that were later modified by the Haus are listed on this page. Items on this page range from being created (Listed under Custom) by a Haus member (or more than one) and item designed by the Haus but conceived by an external collaborator(s) (those are listed under Collaborations).

Lingerie

Disco

The Disco Bra is one of Lady Gaga’s most iconic fashion pieces, first popularized during the The Fame era and later featured in multiple tours and performances. Gaga stated during select shows of The Monster Ball tour that the bra was handmade by herself and Justin Tranter, frontman of Semi Precious Weapons, using mirror chips sourced from M&J Trimming in New York City.

The bra became a symbol of Gaga’s early aesthetic and was worn in the "Just Dance" music video, interviews, at Lollapalooza (2007 and 2010), on select dates of the Just Dance Promo Tour and The Fame Ball and during the final act of The Monster Ball’s Theater Version (2009–2010). The use of mirrored surfaces and reflective materials is a recurring motif in Gaga’s live wardrobe. Variations of the disco theme appeared in:

Studded

  1. Crystal veil-wrapped officer cap.
  2. Blonde braided hair Jeff Koons-inspired balloon dog purse.

Haus Headset

The Haus Headset is a headset microphone that is sound triggered to light up. Gaga mainly used the headset throughout late 2008 to mid-2009 (?). Gaga debuted the piece on So You Think You Can Dance during "Just Dance". Gaga posted a prototype on her Haus of Gaga blog "August 6: Haus Inventions". It is often accommodated by the iPod LCD Glasses.

Sunglasses

  1. Half-smoked cigarettes glued onto black 54 sunglasses by Ray-Ban. Concept conceived on set by Lady Gaga and Nicola Formichetti.

Crystal Glasses

The Crystal Glasses, often known as The Fame Glasses, are the first glasses created by the Haus of Gaga in 2008. The glasses are made of crushed frozen acrylic. These glasses are seen on the cover of Lady Gaga's debut album, The Fame. There was a recreation of the glasses made for live performances, however, this version is just the original glasses without the crystals. It's made of solid polarized plastic and spray-painted. The glasses come in three colors: blue, yellow, and lavender.
These glasses can be seen in many of Gaga's performances, although most prominently during The Fame Ball tour. The glasses are a part of the set of crystal wear in Gaga's collection. The set includes the Disco Stick and the Disco Glove. During The Fame Ball, Gaga mainly wore the yellow pair of glasses, then later on switched to the lavender pair.
During an interview in 2008, Gaga mentioned that while wearing the original pair of crystal glasses, she couldn't see through them.

Masks

The Mirror Mask made it's first debut in Lady Gaga's music video for "Poker Face" (2008). A photograph from the music video was used for "Poker Face" single cover and The Fame Ball Poster. She has worn it during her live performances including The Fame Ball ("Paparazzi"), and her summer and festival performances in 2009. In early July of 2009, the mask broke and was glued back together.

Headpieces

  1. The Lace Crown is a crown made by the Haus of Gaga in order to match the Alexander McQueen red lace body suit.
  2. Disney princess T-shirt styled by Haus of Gaga as turban with peacock feather and crystal brooch embellished pink organza overlay.

Clothing

Catsuits

In May of 2008, the Haus of Gaga debuted a series of catsuits inspired by Willi Ninja for the Just Dance Promo Tour. They created one open-backed, black catsuit, which was worn by Gaga the most. The Haus also designed a black and red catsuit, and one in white with black pieces. Gaga often accessorised by wearing a chain belt by R.J. Graziano with the catsuit.

Dresses

  1. Strapless deep-plunging black vinyl dress, based on the diamond-shaped dresses from Bernard Chandran's Spring/Summer 2009 RTW collection.
  2. Blonde braided hair dress.

Bodysuits

  1. Beige with crystals bodysuit with corset belt and matching high boots cover. Worn with an admiral cap and beige gloves. The gloves were later replaced by fingerless gloves with "Gaga" written on them. Only the hat was worn on later dates. The hat was added to Haus of Gaga/Las Vegas in 2023.
  2. The bodysuit had shoulder pads on the first two shows.

The Bleeding "Paparazzi" Bodysuit [3] is an outfit worn by Lady Gaga for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The concept of the bodysuit was originated from a Frida Kahlo self portrait where she is bleeding from the heart. In an interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Gaga said that the performance was intended to be a commentary on Princess Diana, and in an interview with FUSE: On the Record, Gaga further explained that the VMA performance and outfit was done because of the publics' obsession with celebrity death. That this was her, presenting her own death as in order to say "this is what my death looks like, so you know what to look for".

The Crystal outfits, also known as the Origami outfits, refer to a matching set of corsets, detachable skirts, and headpieces designed in various colors and materials. The crystal shapes are modeled after tetragonal dipyramid formations, giving the garments a geometric, sculptural quality. These designs were inspired by a piece from the Fall/Winter 1991 ready-to-wear collection by Thierry Mugler, later reinterpreted in the capsule line Thierry Mugler Edition under creative director Rosemary Rodriguez. The original Mugler dress featured angular crystal-like structures and served as a key reference point for the Haus of Gaga’s adaptation. While the designer of the Crystal (Origami) outfits has not been officially confirmed, the crystal structures used are nearly identical to those featured on the Poker Face latex catsuit, which was custom-made by Muto-Little Costumes. Given their extensive collaboration with Gaga during this period and their known expertise in latex and sculptural costume design, it is plausible that Muto-Little also contributed to the creation of the Crystal outfits.

Each outfit typically includes:

  • A headpiece adorned with crystals
  • A one-shoulder corset (left side) with translucent strap on the right, crystal detailing under the right breast, lace-up back
  • A detachable velcro skirt with crystals concentrated on the right side, extending to the front and partially to the back

Three primary versions were created:

Two black vinyl corsets were later produced:

  • One with gold ochre crystals
  • One with transparent crystals

These versions featured fewer crystals on the left shoulder and more concentrated near the bottom left of the corset. They were worn from late January through the European leg of the Doll Domination Tour. No new skirts were made to match; instead, existing skirts were reused:

  • The gold crystals corset paired with the black leather skirt
  • The clear crystals corset paired with the smoke skirt

A black bracelet featuring the same clear crystals was created and worn only once — during a photoshoot by Sasha Eisenman on January 9, 2009 (ee Accessory section).

In 2010, Gaga debuted a sea green version that fused the corset and skirt into a single dress with velcro closure at the back. This version featured crystal embellishments on all sides of the skirt and was one of two outfits worn consistently during performances of "Paparazzi" in The Monster Ball 2.0 (2010–2011).

  13. American flag-inspired stars & stripes printed one-shoulder and one-leg jumpsuit.
  14. Taupe floral lace bodysuit with shoulder pads.
  15. Birkin bag by Hermès was embellished with studs and spikes by the Haus of Gaga.

After her last performance at Jazz & Piano residency show (as a part of spring 2022 dates), Lady Gaga attended Brian Newman's “After Dark” residency show at the NoMad Restaurant in Las Vegas, where she wore a white one-sleeved sheer organza beaded mini dress. Haus member Lisa Bruno told La Maison Gaga that the dress was created by Haus of Gaga and designed by Lady Gaga herself.
  3. White lambskin biker vest created for The Monster Ball tour in 2010.

Collaborations

Throughout the years, the Haus have collaborated with a lot of designers and costume ateliers. Some past members were also main designer behind some of the creations such as former wardrobe assistant and designer Perry Meek (2009-2014, freelance since 2015), and former Haus fashion director, Brandon Maxwell (2012 to 2018).
