Fashion is a song written in 2007, by Lady Gaga and RedOne, for Sex and the City. Eventually, RedOne worked with The Hills star, Heidi Montag, and she did a cover of the song, however, the song received poor reception.
Shortly after the song was released, RedOne released a statement.

Due to the bad reception, the song didn't make it onto Montag's debut album, Superficial, also, Montag stated that she wanted new material that hadn't been heard before.
The song was featured in an episode of Ugly Betty, titled, Bad Amanda which aired on December 4, 2008. The version featured on the show was Lady Gaga's version. This new version of the song was also put on the Confessions of a Shopaholic Original Soundtrack.
When Lady Gaga released her version of the song, Spencer Pratt, Montag's husband, went on record saying "Lady Gaga is repulsive!" and "Heidi's a far more talented artist, and her version of 'Fashion' kills Lady Gaga's."
