"Fashion" is a song written in 2007, by Lady Gaga and RedOne, for the 2008 American romantic comedy film Sex and the City: The Movie. Instead, it was used in the 2009 American romantic comedy film Confessions of a Shopaholic. The soundtrack of Confessions of a Shopaholic was released on February 17, 2009 under Hollywood Records.
Background[]
In 2008, RedOne decided to give the song to Heidi Montag. Her version was received with a poor reception, which resulted in a delay of Montag's debut album, Superficial. Moreover, Montag stated that she wanted new material that hadn't been heard before. Shortly after Montag's version was unofficially released, RedOne released a statement.

On December 4, 2008, the original version by Lady Gaga was featured on an Ugly Betty episode titled "Bad Amanda". The song was also put on the Confessions of a Shopaholic Original Soundtrack released on February 17, 2009. After Gaga released her version of the song, Spencer Pratt, Montag's husband, went on record saying "Lady Gaga is repulsive!" and "Heidi's a far more talented artist, and her version of 'Fashion' kills Lady Gaga's."
On March 13, 2012, "Fashion" was revealed to be the theme song for the NBC series "Fashion Star", hosted by supermodel Elle MacPherson and featuring mentors Jessica Simpson, John Varvatos and Nicole Richie.
On January 11, 2025, Heidi Montag released a new edition of her album Superficial in celebration of it's 15th anniversary, in which it included brand new songs and remixes, and also a new version of the song "Fashion" with a different instrumentation, it was produced by Aron Blackmar.
