The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) is a non-profit organization of the top 350 American fashion and accessory designers. The CFDA Fashion Awards recognize extraordinary design excellence in: womenswear, menswear, accessories, as well as accomplishments in journalism, creative vision, and lifetime achievement.[1]

Lady Gaga was honored with the "Fashion Icon of The Year" award this year. She wore a custom Mugler corset, skirt and catsuit, which was designed by Nicola Formichetti as he was the Creative Director of the brand. The dress was originally colored lime green, due to this it was dipped in dyed black latex paint. She was styled by Nicola Formichetti and Anna Trevelyan.

Lady Gaga arrived at the Awards Ceremony held on the evening of Monday, June 6, 2011. During her arrival however, while walking the red carpet greeting paparazzi and fans, the top of her dress slipped down, exposing her breasts.

Custom corset, skirt and catsuit by Mugler, custom boots by Noritaka Tatehana, and cups of a body harness styled as pasties by Ledapol from Joanna Lark.

Gaga mencioned that Anna Wintour texted her – "Yes, Anna Wintour texts" – that she, Gaga, had won the Fashion Icon award. But Gaga thought the text came from her stylist, Anna Trevelyan, and texted back, "Yes, bitch, we did it.

Gaga attented the CFDA Awards After-Party at Standard Hotel in New York City. Patti LaBelle and Gaga sang "Over the Rainbow" for Stan D'Arde. Terry Richardson took pictures of Gaga and Terence Koh.
