The American Music Awards (AMAs) is an annual American music awards show produced by Dick Clark Productions (DCP) since 1974. Nominees are selected based on commercial performance, such as sales and airplay, and winners are determined by public voting through the AMAs website.
Originally airing on ABC after the network lost broadcast rights to the Grammy Awards, the AMAs remained on ABC until 2022, when the network's contract expired. Following the 2022 ceremony, the awards were placed on hiatus for both 2023 and 2024. In March 2024, CBS acquired broadcast rights as part of a deal involving the now DCP-owned Golden Globe Awards. While CBS aired a 50th-anniversary special on October 6, 2024, the AMAs did not return until May 26, 2025.

Performance
Lady Gaga performed a dramatic medley of "Bad Romance" and "Speechless". During "Bad Romance", she was accompanied by dancers, who were all sporting flesh colored suits and lighted exo-sceleton masks. She proceeded to remove her lighted head-piece shortly into the performance. After, she made her way to a glass box which she shattered with her microphone stand, in order to get to her fire spurting piano, in which she would play "Speechless". Throughout the latter half of the performance she broke bottles on the piano in a synchronized manner with the music for dramatic.
