После того, как Леди Гага написала "Just Dance", ее наняли писать песни для различных исполнителей под Universal Music. "SuperStar" - одна из песен, написанных в первом квартале 2008 года. Песня предназначалась для группы Pussycat Doll и их альбома Doll Domination, но так и не была записана с группой. Позже она была отдана певице/рэперу Мерседес Сикумар.
