Она продолжила говорить, что эта песня о том, как она переехала в центр Нью-Йорка когда ей было 19. Лирика песни повествует об ее переезде в центр, и о том, что она смогла обрести новый способ мышления, который настолько отличался от того, чему ее учили ранее. До этого культовые образы научили ее всю жизнь смотреть на Иисуса и религию определенным образом. Таким образом, она видит Чёрного Иисуса как совершенно новый способ мышления, который, как она верила, был вызван встречами с новыми людьми и новыми вещами.
